The EC investigation examined possible competition problems in Germany, the UK, Italy and Belgium, and found that the impact would be negligible in all markets with the exception of Germany. However, even in Germany, the EC said the deal did not give rise to serious competition concerns as “a large number of competitors remain.”
GERMANY: EC clears Interbrew takeover of Gilde
The European Commission has given the green light to Interbrew's €523m takeover of the German brewing group, Gilde Brauerei. The EC said the takeover "does not give rise to competition concerns in any beer market in the European Union."
