French spirits exports rose by double-digits in the first two months of the year on the same period of 2009, according to trade body, the Fédération des Exportateurs de Vins et Spiritueux (FEVS).
Export volumes increased by 11% for the period, with a 16% rise in February, while value exports jumped by 31% in February and 25% in January-February, said FEVS.
The strong start to the year did not extend to French wine exports, which fell 17% in volume and 2% in value over January and February, the FEVS added.
However, it was far a more positive picture for Champagne specifically, with exports in the first two months of the year up 33% in volume and 20.5% in value.
