Nestle’s French operation, Nestle Waters France, is withdrawing 2m 1-litre bottles of Quezac brand mineral water amid fears of a contamination risk.
The bottles in question were produced between June 19 and June 27 2003 and bear a June 2004 consume by date. A NWF spokesman told just-drinks that 1.1m bottles have already been blocked in warehouses leaving around 950,000 bottles in stores or in the hands of consumers.

The decision to remove the bottles was taken following an analysis which produced results which did not meet sanitary standards, Nestle Waters France said. This showed the presence of the pseudomonas aeruginosa-type germ usually found in vegetables, the health risk of which is said to be minor.
The company said it had no knowledge of any complaint nor any information relating to Quezac constituting a health hazard.
