Finnish drinks group, Altia, has acquired the drinks importer, Uneco Juomat Oy, from private shareholders, Esa Karppinen and his family, Kari Salmi and Risto Suomio, for an undisclosed sum. The deal is subject to approval by Finnish competition authorities.
Uneco Juomat, formed in 1989, specialises in importing, bottling and marketing still and sparking wine and brandy, selling its products through Alko state monopoly liquor outlets and restaurants. With a staff of 40, the company is forecasting turnover (excluding excise) of €24m ($22.2m) in 2002.
