The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is lending €10m to Denmark’s Danfoss Solutions, who will finance investment in energy-efficiency projects in the eastern European brewery sector. The plans will focus on Poland and Russia in particular, where energy consumption by industrial companies is significantly higher than in western plants.

The aim is to allow breweries to reduce utility bills by up to 20%, while reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.

The EBRD estimates that the cost of the improvements will be repaid out of energy savings. The Danish company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Danfoss A/S, Denmark’s largest industrial group.
