The beer market in Denmark peaked in 1994 but sales have been on the decline since as a result of cross border shopping and a growing wine market. The cross border shopping business, with consumers travelling to northern Germany to buy Danish export beers, is thought to be equivalent to about 20% of domestic beer sales.
