CZECH REPUBLIC: First quarter profit up at Pivovar Louny
Czech brewer, Pivovar Louny, announced a pre-tax profit of CKR3.19m for the first quarter, up by 42% from last year's figure of CKR2.24m. Sales rose by 4% to CKR44.61m. However, output was down by 4.4% at 47,672hls. The company exports around 11% of its production. Chief economist at the brewery, Blanka Valentova, attributed the rise in profit to reduced overheads and energy costs.
