Beer production in the Czech Republic increased 1.5% along with a 6.5% increase in exports from the country’s brewers.
According to the Czech Brewery and Malthouse Association overall output rose to 18.18m hectolitres, with Plzensky Pradroj – which produces Pilsner Urquell and is owned by SABMiller – still the top producer with 5.2m hl.
Radegast, also SABmiller-owned, was second producing 2.1m hl.
Interbrew’s Staropramen came in the third with 1.25m hl produced, the association said.
Exports reached 1.98m hl, with 48 out of the country’s industrial brewers contributing to exports.
Germany took 31% of the export total, followed by Slovakia and the UK.
