Czech breweries enjoyed a slight climb in production for the first nine months of 2003, according to data released today. Statistics from the Czech Statistics Office show the amount of beer produced by the country’s brewers between January and September totalled 14.041m hectolitres, an increase of 1% year-on-year.

According to local brewers, the rise was mainly due to the high temperatures in the summer months.
Pivovary Staropramen saw increased volume by 6% to 1.8m hectolitres of beer. Production at Plzensky Prazdroj rose by 5%, while Bernard brewery expects its production for the year to reach 122,000 hectolitres of beer, which would be the brewery’s best result since 1994.
All breweries in the Czech Republic expect a considerable rise in production before Christmas.
