Generally improving standards of living in China are seeing the country’s wine consumption gradually increasing, according to Geng Zhaolin, director of China Vintage Industry Association. Speaking at the 2002 International Wine Development Forum held in last Zhaolin said, last year, China wine output was 300,000 tons, increasing by 20% over that of the year before last year. The annual average consumption of wine per capita in China was 0.27 liters.
