In addition to aggressive expansion plans for Southeast Asia, China’s leading brewer, Tsingtao, is also looking to expand into South Africa, according to a report in the South China Morning Post.

Tsingtao president Jin Zhiguo was quoted as saying that it was negotiating with a Southeast Asian brewer with regard to setting up a second production facility outside of China following the deal it struck in Taiwan last year.

The company was also reported as being confident that it could significantly expand its presence in South Africa but no details of its precise plans for the market were outlined. The brewer said it was still studying the South African market and had yet to work out a production and marketing plan.
