Kirin has announced plans to produce draught beer in China from next year, according to Japanese press reports. The brewer is aiming to increase sales in the Chinese market.

The company said yesterday that it will set up a production line specifically for draught beer at its factory in Zhuhai in the south of the country. The factory is a joint venture between Kirin and the Tongyi Group, a food maker from Taiwan. The venture, Zhuhai Kirin Tongyi, has produced Kirin-branded beer since 1999.
The Japanese company will begin production in the summer of 2004.
