Chateau de Pommard, the Burgundy winery owned by Yahoo’s former e-commerce head, has released a new rosé.
The launch of Rootstock Bourgogne Rosé marks international rosé day, which was held last Friday. The wine is made from organic grapes grown by Chateau de Pommard.
In line with the company’s other wine’s, Rootstock Bourgogne Rosé is only available through its website.
Winery owner Michael Baum had an extensive career in digital sales before purchasing Chateau de Pommard in 2014. As well as working for Yahoo, he held a senior role with Disney heading up the media giant’s e-commerce operations. Speaking to Just Drinks last year, Baum said he is focussing on direct-to-consumer shipping in an attempt to cut out middlemen and retain control over branding.
“For owners and producers, who today are not getting the lion’s share of the value of a bottle, and are dependent upon all of these other people to tell their story, [direct-to-consumer] is a breath of fresh air,” Baum said.
