The brewing combine, Interbrew, has named Stewart Gilliland, currently Interbrew’s chief executive for the UK and Ireland, as the new president of Labatt Breweries of Canada.

Gilliland will take up his new position on 1 September, succeeding Bruce Elliot who is leaving the company following a transition period.

“Mr Gilliland’s extensive background in the beer industry and experience with Interbrew will be invaluable as Labatt begins this next chapter in its history,” said Interbrew CEO, John Brock. “We know that Bruce is committed to helping Mr Gilliland and the current management team through this transition, which will enable all of us to thank him for the considerable role he has played in establishing the foundation for Labatt’s continued success.”
