Belgian brewer Duvel Moortgat has reported a year-on-year rise in beer sales for the first quarter of 2010.
All brands contributed to the rise, said the brewer yesterday (26 April), without publishing figures.
“Despite the weak economic climate, Duvel Moortgat managed to record higher results,” said the brewer, which owns Duvel, Liefmans and La Chouffe beers.
“Should no new and unexpected economic developments occur on the major markets, this growth shall be continued in 2010.”
However, the brewer did warn of rising costs. Malt prices are set to remain high throughout 2010, while packaging costs will rise in the second half of the year. Energy costs should remain stable, it added.
Duvel will publish its half-year results on 27 August.
