The Austrian brewery Brau Union, part of Austrian drinks group BBAG, which is currently seeking an international partner, has said it is to cease production at its brewery in Innsbruck in western Austria in August.

Brau Union will switch production of the brands produced at the Innsbruck facility to its Wieselburg site in north-eastern Austria and its Kaltenhausen brewery in Salzburg.

The brewer operates a further eight breweries in Austria and with a total output of 4.8m hectolitres controls around 57% of the Austrian beer market. It said the closure, which will result in 30 redundancies, was attributed to falling beer consumption.
