The United States has become Australia’s most valuable wine export market, passing the UK for the first time.

The Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation reported that sales to the US for the year ended July 2003 were A$858m (US$555.6m) up 41% on the previous comparable year while those to the UK were A$857m, up less than 1%.

However, the UK market is still the biggest in volume terms taking 206m litres of the total 517m litres shipped.
