South Australian wine grape growers are resisting attempts by liquidators of the collapsed Normans Winery to have them return grape payments of up to A$80,000 (US$59,000) each.

Liquidators Ernst and Young made the claim of some 150 growers. But Chris Byme, chief executive of the South Australian Riverland Wine Grape Growers Association, said the company still owed growers and creditors more than A$11 million (US$8.1 million). Byme said the claim was utterly indefensible.
