A decision on Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd’s proposed purchase of juice company Berri Ltd is expected within a week. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced today that it expects to hand down a decision on the transaction shortly.

The soft drink company has been in discussions with the unlisted juice company, with a view to buying it for A£300m ($214.6m). As Berri already controls over 50% of the Australian juice market, the deal may face some obstacles from the nation’s competition regulator.
