The CEO of SABMiller, Graham Mackay, has confirmed that the multinational brewer has taken a look at Foster’s Group’s Australian beer arm.
Mackay was the quoted in the Wall Street Journal late last week as saying that SABMiller eyed all potential acquisition targets of Foster’s size. “You would have expected us to have had a look at Foster’s,” he said.
It is the first time that SABMiller has publicly declared an interest in the Foster’s beer business, Carlton & United Breweries.
However, it remains unclear how strong that interest is. “In the beer industry, everybody runs the numbers over everybody else,” one analyst told just-drinks last month.
