The Brazilian brewing group, AmBev, has announced that it has completed its $600m deal to acquire 36.1% of the voting rights in the Argentinean beer group, Quilmes Industrial (Quinsa).
Under the terms of the deal, AmBev will hold a 37.5% economic interest in Quinsa, while the two companies will combine their activities in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The completion of the deal was a formality following the decision by Heineken, a minority shareholder in Quinsa which had opposed the deal on the grounds that it believed it should have been given the option to increase its stake ahead of AmBev, agreed to give up its attempt to block the merger.
