The US’s consumer industry registered a 2.3% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.68% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.91% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.02% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s consumer industry in September 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 38.02% in September 2022, registering a 6.27% growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 24.74% share, an increase of 1.77% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 15.43%, registering a 15.17% decline from August 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 10.26%, up 9.17% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 27.6% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s consumer industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

The J. R. Simplot posted 108 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 35% over the previous month, followed by Carrier Global with 78 jobs and a 16.42% growth. Petco Health and WellnessInc with 76 IT jobs and Peloton Interactive with 48 jobs, recorded a 7.32% decline and a 100% growth, respectively, while Rich Products recorded an increase of 76.92% with 46 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.59%, up by 1.06% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.21% share, registered a decline of 12.77% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 18.45% share, up 47.59% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.67%, recording a month-on-month increase of 24%.
