The UK’s consumer industry registered a 2.5% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.18% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.02% share in July 2022, recording an increase of 0.06% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 38.24% in July 2022, registering a 13.33% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 28.43% share, an increase of 26.09% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 20.1%, registering a 10.87% decline from June 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8.33%, down 10.53% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 21.24% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Fujitsu General posted 48 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 45.45% over the previous month, followed by The Body Shop International with 40 jobs and a 42.86% growth. Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 25 IT jobs and Lego with 13 jobs, recorded a 34.21% decline and a 333.33% growth, respectively, while Reckitt Benckiser Group recorded a flat growth with 11 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 78.92%, down by 2.42% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with an 11.76% share, registered an increase of 26.32% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.31% share, down 29.63% over June 2022.
