UK consumer industry IT recruitment activity drops 7.6% in August 2022

The UK’s consumer industry registered a 7.6% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.11% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.78% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 37.65% in August 2022, registering a 17.95% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 27.06% share, a decrease of 20.69% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 20%, registering a 17.07% decline from July 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8.24%, down 17.65% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 21.77% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

The Body Shop International posted 38 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 5% over the previous month, followed by Fujitsu General with 28 jobs and a 41.67% drop. Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 17 IT jobs and Reckitt Benckiser Group with 7 jobs, recorded a 32% decline and a 36.36% decrease, respectively, while Philip Morris International recorded a flat growth with 7 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.35%, down by 23.6% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.88% share, registered an increase of 12.5% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.76% share, up 5.26% over July 2022.
