The UK’s consumer industry registered a 3.9% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.97% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.6% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 0.28% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.73% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry in September 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 35.03% in September 2022, registering a 7.84% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 31.85% share, an increase of 38.89% over the previous month.

3) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers held a share of 18.47%, registering a 56.72% decline from August 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 7.64%, down 20% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 8.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Fujitsu General posted 35 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 16.67% over the previous month, followed by The Body Shop International with 33 jobs and a 23.26% drop. Carlsberg with 9 IT jobs and Reckitt Benckiser Group with 7 jobs, recorded a 350% growth and a 12.5% decrease, respectively, while Unilever recorded an increase of 600% with 7 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.43%, down by 17.42% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 15.29% share, registered an increase of 9.09% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 14.65% share, down 17.86% over August 2022.
