The UK’s consumer industry registered a 17.2% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.99% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.14% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 0.59% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry in October 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 41.58% in October 2022, registering a 23.64% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 26.73% share, a decrease of 6.9% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 19.8%, registering a 60% decline from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 6.93%, down 41.67% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 11.32% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Body Shop International posted 28 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 15.15% over the previous month, followed by Haleon with 10 jobs and a flat growth. Unilever with 7 IT jobs and Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 7 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 16.67% growth, respectively, while Reckitt Benckiser Group recorded a flat growth with 7 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.25%, down by 30.91% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 12.87% share, registered a decline of 45.83% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 11.88% share, down 47.83% over September 2022.
