South & Central America witnessed a 14.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen a decrease of 3.93% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 1.93% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.47% over the last three-month average share.

Computer and Information Analysts Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Computer and Information Analysts Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 30.91% in September 2022, a 15% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 23.64% in September 2022, marking an 18.18% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 23.64% in September 2022, a 7.14% drop from August 2022.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers registered a share of 16.36% in September 2022, a 59.09% decline over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 10.71% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s consumer industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Anheuser-Busch InBev posted 7 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 12.5% over the previous month, followed by GraceKennedy with 7 jobs and a flat growth. Unilever with 6 IT jobs and BRF with 6 jobs, recorded a 100% rise and a 50% drop, respectively, while Kimberly-Clark recorded a flat growth with 5 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s consumer industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 40% share in September 2022, a 37.14% decrease over August 2022. Jamaica featured next with a 12.73% share, flat growth over the previous month. Colombia recorded a 12.73% share, a growth of 40% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 78.18%, down by 17.31% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 12.73% share, registered a decline of 12.5% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 9.09% share, down 44.44% over August 2022.
