North America witnessed a 7.5% drop in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
July 2022 has seen an increase of 1.23% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 1.66% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2022, registering a decrease of 0.03% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 35.88% in July 2022, an 18.26% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 27.19% in July 2022, marking a 4.36% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 18.03% in July 2022, a 24.7% drop from June 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 10.5% in July 2022, a 34.13% decline over the previous month.
Top five consumer companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 16.29% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s consumer industry during July 2022 over previous month.
PepsiCo posted 61 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered an increase of 1.67% over the previous month, followed by Bunge with 41 jobs and a 41.38% growth. Carrier Global with 40 IT jobs and Petco Health and WellnessInc with 39 jobs, recorded a 41.18% drop and an 85.71% rise, respectively, while Mohawk Industries recorded a flat growth with 26 job postings during July 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s consumer industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with an 89.12% share in July 2022, a 20.85% decrease over June 2022. Mexico featured next with a 6.01% share, down 17.11% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 4.87% share, a growth of 4.08% compared with June 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.11%, down by 21.74% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.95% share, registered a decline of 4.92% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.31% share, down 32.43% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.62%, recording a month-on-month growth of 21.43%.
