The global drinks industry noticed an 18.3% rise in IT hiring activity in May 2022 over the previous month, led by PepsiCo’s 27.17% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The drinks industry’s overall hiring activity increased 3.7% when compared with April 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 1.74% share of the global drinks industry’s hiring activity in May 2022, up 0.35% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of May 2022 were 0.59% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 0.78% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 43.31% emerged as the top IT occupation in the drinks hiring activity in May 2022, a 3.77% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 29.13% in May 2022, up 68.18% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 14.17% share in May 2022, a growth of 71.43% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 9.45% share in May 2022 and a rise of 4.35% over April 2022.
Top five drinks companies by recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 32.58% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global drinks industry during May 2022 over April 2022.
PepsiCo posted 69 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a rise of 76.92% over the previous month, followed by Carlsberg with 31 jobs and a 106.67% growth. Anheuser-Busch InBev with 29 IT jobs and Coca-Cola Consolidated with 25 jobs, recorded an 11.54% growth and a 25% rise, respectively, while The Coca-Cola recorded a 34.38% drop with 21 job postings during May 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in drinks industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global drinks IT hiring activity in May 2022 with a 60.63% share, which marked an 11.59% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 18.11%, registering a 4.55% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 14.17% share and an 80% rise over April 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 5.51% and a month-on-month rise of 600%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.57%, registering a 100% increase over the previous month.
