The global drinks industry noticed a 2.1% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 over the previous month, led by PepsiCo’s 23.91% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.

The drinks industry’s overall hiring activity increased 0.53% when compared with July 2022.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.81% share of the global drinks industry’s hiring activity in August 2022, down 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of August 2022 were 14.93% lower when compared with the previous month.

The decrease was a result of 24.43% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive drinks IT hiring activity

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 36.7% emerged as the top IT occupation in the drinks hiring activity in August 2022, a 2.68% decline over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in second with a share of 25.93% in August 2022, up 8.45% over the previous month.

The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 21.55% share in August 2022, a decline of 4.48% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with an 11.11% share in August 2022 and a drop of 13.16% over July 2022.

Top five drinks companies by recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 2.97% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global drinks industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

PepsiCo posted 71 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 20.22% over the previous month, followed by Anheuser-Busch InBev with 46 jobs and a 15% growth. Carlsberg with 27 IT jobs and Fomento Economico Mexicano SAB de CV with 26 jobs, recorded a 3.85% growth and an 8.33% rise, respectively, while Coca-Cola Consolidated recorded a 13.04% rise with 26 job postings during August 2022.

Regional composition of IT hiring in drinks industry

North America emerged as the leading region in the global drinks IT hiring activity in August 2022 with a 60.94% share, which marked a 6.47% rise over the previous month.

Europe stood next with 19.87%, registering a 15.71% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 13.47% share and a 14.89% drop over July 2022.

In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 5.39% and a month-on-month flat growth. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.34%, registering a 66.67% decrease over the previous month.
