The global drinks industry noticed a 10.4% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 over the previous month, led by PepsiCo’s 31.11% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The drinks industry’s overall hiring activity declined 6.59% when compared with May 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.73% share of the global drinks industry’s hiring activity in June 2022, up 0.14% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2022 were 7.14% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 13.74% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive drinks IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 47.04% emerged as the top IT occupation in the drinks hiring activity in June 2022, a 21.12% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 19.26% in June 2022, down 49.02% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 19.26% share in June 2022, a decline of 44.68% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 9.26% share in June 2022 and a drop of 41.86% over May 2022.
Top five drinks companies by recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 32.06% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global drinks industry during June 2022 over May 2022.
PepsiCo posted 84 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a drop of 22.94% over the previous month, followed by Anheuser-Busch InBev with 31 jobs and a 43.64% decline. Coca-Cola Consolidated with 26 IT jobs and Fomento Economico Mexicano SAB de CV with 19 jobs, recorded a 7.14% decline and a 13.64% drop, respectively, while Carlsberg recorded a 62.5% drop with 18 job postings during June 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in drinks industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global drinks IT hiring activity in June 2022 with a 57.78% share, which marked a 31.88% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 21.48%, registering a 34.83% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 16.3% share and a 27.87% drop over May 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 4.07% and a month-on-month drop of 59.26%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.37%, registering a 75% decrease over the previous month.
