The global drinks industry noticed a 0.3% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 over the previous month, led by PepsiCo’s 29.18% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.

The drinks industry’s overall hiring activity declined 4.86% when compared with June 2022.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.9% share of the global drinks industry’s hiring activity in July 2022, up 0.17% over the last three-month average share.

According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of July 2022 were 4.39% lower when compared with the previous month.

The decrease was a result of 8.41% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive drinks IT hiring activity

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 36.39% emerged as the top IT occupation in the drinks hiring activity in July 2022, an 18.98% decline over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in second with a share of 23.28% in July 2022, down 4.05% over the previous month.

The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 21.97% share in July 2022, a growth of 9.84% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 12.46% share in July 2022 and a rise of 26.67% over June 2022.

Top five drinks companies by recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 0.5% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global drinks industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

PepsiCo posted 89 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 13.59% over the previous month, followed by Anheuser-Busch InBev with 40 jobs and a 14.29% growth. Carlsberg with 26 IT jobs and The Coca-Cola with 23 jobs, recorded a 3.7% decline and a 43.75% rise, respectively, while Fomento Economico Mexicano SAB de CV recorded a 9.52% rise with 23 job postings during July 2022.

Regional composition of IT hiring in drinks industry

North America emerged as the leading region in the global drinks IT hiring activity in July 2022 with a 55.41% share, which marked a 4.52% drop over the previous month.

Europe stood next with 22.95%, registering a 7.69% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 15.41% share and a 24.19% drop over June 2022.

In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 5.25% and a month-on-month rise of 23.08%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.98%, registering a 200% increase over the previous month.
