Canada’s consumer industry registered a 0.5% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.61% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.28% share in October 2022, recording an increase of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.48% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s consumer industry in October 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 53.03% in October 2022, registering a 31.37% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 16.67% share, a decrease of 15.38% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 15.15%, registering a 9.09% decline from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 9.09%, up 200% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 17.02% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s consumer industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton posted 18 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 25% over the previous month, followed by Body Shop International with 7 jobs and a 68.18% drop. Hasbro with 6 IT jobs and Maple Leaf Foods with 4 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 300% growth, respectively, while McCain Foods recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.52%, down by 24.44% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 39.39% share, registered a decline of 18.75% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 9.09% share, up 20% over September 2022.
