Canada’s consumer industry registered a 4.4% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.95% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.95% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.42% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s consumer industry in August 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 65.96% in August 2022, registering a 3.33% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 23.4% share, a decrease of 21.43% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 8.51%, registering a 20% decline from July 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 2.13%, down 50% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 33.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s consumer industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

The Body Shop International posted 16 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 60% over the previous month, followed by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton with 10 jobs and a 16.67% drop. HelloFresh with 6 IT jobs and Zebra with 2 jobs, recorded a 200% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Nestle recorded a decline of 33.33% with 2 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.7%, down by 6.45% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 29.79% share, registered a decline of 12.5% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 8.51% share, down 33.33% over July 2022.
