US wine, beer and spirits firm Constellation Brands is due to report its first-quarter numbers tomorrow (2 July). Here, just-drinks takes a look at how the company has made the headlines in the three months to the end of May:
- In March, the group spoke out after a legal wrangle involving its wine brand Rosatello. The company claimed an injuction against sales of the wine referred to a discontinued label and the brand was being relaunched
- Later that month, Constellation revealed it had signed a deal to expand distribution of its Robert Mondavi wine brand in China
- just-drinks caught up with the firm’s international general manager, Philip Kingston, at ProWein in March
- CEO Rob Sands dodged a question over speculation linking his firm to a buy-out of Pabst Blue Ribbon Co
- In May, Constellation launched a Pinot Noir version of its Black Box wine
- The company also declined to comment on speculation it is looking at acquiring struggling wine firm Treasury Wine Estates, while the Australia-headquartered group flatly denied it was talking to Constellation
