According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), about 70% of the 2.5bn litres of fruit and vegetable juices sold in Mexico in 2009 were produced domestically. Mexico exported US$266.99m worth of juices in 2009, compared to US$308.23m in 2008 and US$247.29m in 2007, according to the UN Comtrade database. Mexico’s main export market for juice is the US, which absorbed 72% of Mexico’s juice exports in 2009, followed by the Netherlands (9%) and Japan (3.5%).
