Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that ASICS filed the most 3D printing patents within the consumer industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 13 3D printing-related patents in the quarter, compared with 3 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Signify with 8 3D printing patent filings, NIKE (8 filings), and Kao (7 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 28% share of total patent filings
The largest share of 3D printing related patent filings in the consumer industry in Q2 2024 was in China with 28%, followed by the US (23%) and Japan (6%). The share represented by China was 9% higher than the 19% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
