The executive director of the Australian Citrus Growers, Judith Damiani, was sanguine about the ACCC’s findings. “I think it really comes down to making the consumer aware of what they’re purchasing and hopefully they can make a more informed purchase,” she said, adding that consumers may now be encouraged to buy more fresh products which are more profitable for Australian growers. Much of the juice concentrate used in Australian juice products is imported from other fruit-producing countries like Brazil.
