The Japanese brewer and drinks group, Kirin Brewery Co., has announced that it has acquired the Japanese rights to the Franzia wine brand, owned by the US wine company, The Wine Group Inc.
The company plans to market four Franzia wine brands in Japan, from late March.
Franzia was distributed by Suntory which has terminated that arrangement following the agreement of a distribution deal with E&J Gallo, announced in October 2002.
