According to reports in Poland, the Polish brewer, Grupa Zywiec, a subsidiary of Heineken, is considering selling two of its smaller breweries to Brok-Strzelec in order to pave the way for Heineken’s acquisition of the Austrian brewer, BBAG.

Through Zywiec, Heineken already controls around 32% of the Polish beer market, and BBAG, through its Brau Union subsidiary, owns three breweries in Poland.

According to the reports, disposing of the two smaller breweries, thought to be its Kujawiak and Van Pur facilities, would enable the Heineken-controlled Grupa Zywiec to receive approval for the BBAG acquisition from Polish anti-monopoly authorities.
