Molson Coors is investing £10m ($12.3m) in a UK brewery to increase production capacity, efficiency and sustainability.

The Tadcaster Tower Brewery, based in Yorkshire, UK, produces Molson Coors core beer brands including Carling, Coors and Madri. The site employs more than 100 people.

It follows Molson Coors’s investment in a carbon dioxide recovery facility on the site, set to be operational in early 2024.

In a statement today (11 October) Molson Coors said: “A programme of significant investment and infrastructure upgrades over the next two years will increase the brewery’s capacity to produce leading beers including Carling, Coors, Madri Excepcional and Worthington’s, using more advanced, energy-efficient equipment.”

Stephen Moore, director of the Molson Coors brewery in Tadcaster, said: “This is a landmark moment in our history, and as we prepare to ramp up production in the months and years ahead, it means we can keep making the nation’s favourite beer brands while reducing our impact on the environment.”

The beverage portfolio of the business in the UK and Ireland includes brands such as Aspall Cyder, Cobra, Madri Excepcional, Pravha, Staropramen, Rekorderlig, Coors and Carling.

It follows the group’s recent beer successes in the US, where the company has gained “unprecedented” market share this year. This month the brewer said this year’s boost, fuelled by Bud Light owner Anheuser-Busch InBev’s partnership fiasco with Dylan Mulvaney, was now “structural in nature”.

The company saw a record-high second quarter but Hattersley said its success had begun “long before controversy upended the US beer industry”.
