The total grape harvest of the northern Italian wine region of the Veneto fell by 20% in 2002 to 980,000 tonnes.
Total wine production in the region totalled more than 6m hls in 2002, according to figures published at a seminar organised by the Italian Experimental Institute for Viticulture, out of a total Italian wine production of 42.4m hls which was down 14.8% on 2001.
