Beam Suntory is looking to heighten its digital focus, appointing a former Diageo executive to the newly-created position of VP for digital products & experience.
The role will be filled by Venky Iyer, who started with Diageo back in 2003. Eleven years later, Iyer became the global VP for digital innovation at Diageo’s ‘Tech Ventures’ unit, covering North America, Western Europe, China, India and Latin America.

According to Beam Suntory, Iyer, who moves across in the coming weeks, will be charged with “setting the vision and strategy to drive momentum and rapidly advance Beam Suntory’s digital agenda”.
The group’s president of brands, Jessica Spence, said: “Venky will be central to leading the continued evolution of our digital agenda as we further premiumise the digital consumer and customer experience with our business and our brands.
“With a background deeply rooted in digital, Venky will help to further build the capabilities and connections necessary to build premium brands of scale, allowing our business to thrive in the digital world. Supported by his vision, we will create a truly global digital ecosystem that fosters lasting connections with people in new, impactful ways.”
Last month, Beam Suntory added a Hornitos-branded hard seltzer to its portfolio in the US.
