The oldest iteration from Edrington’s The Glenrothes single malt Scotch brand has been announced.

Distilled in 1968, The Glenrothes 50-year-old was bottled in September last year. Weighing in at just under US$32,400 per crystal decanter, the single malt has been matured in a mix of American oak and Sherry-seasoned oak casks.

Each purchase comes with an invitation to an “exclusive experience” at The Glenrothes distillery just outside Rothes in Speyside. The visit includes a meeting with the brand’s distillery team.

“As our oldest ever release, this 50-year-old is a salute to the loyalty and craft of our distillery team, several of whom have over 40 years’ service,” said brand director Kerr Arthur. “They truly understand the art of whisky making The Glenrothes way and now 50 people will have the privilege of sharing in this milestone release.”

Edrington, which also owns The Macallan single malt, acquired The Glenrothes from Berry Bros & Rudd three years ago.
