Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua’s Flor de Caña rum brand has committed to a year-long, global reforestation campaign that will see the Nicaraguan-based producer plant 70,000 trees over the course of 2022. The "Together for a Greener Future" is supported by by environmental charity One Tree Planted, and will include a series of POS activations and social media initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of reforestation. The brand, which is imported into the US by William Grant & Sons, has pledged to plant 1m trees by 2025 and claims to be 80% of the way to its goal. "As a global leader of sustainability practices within the spirits industry, we are deeply committed to the protection and preservation of the environment," said Flor de Caña’s global ambassador Mauricio Solórzano. "Through our partnership with One Tree Planted we're taking our commitment to the environment to the next level and working together to inspire people around the world to get involved in our effort to restore forests and ensure a greener future for generations to come." In 2019, Flor de Caña partnered with National Football League team the New England Patriots in the US, becoming the side’s “official rum partner” in a multi-year agreement.
