Código 1530 has secured a distribution agreement with Monarq Group, meaning the company’s namesake Tequila brand will expand into a raft of new markets.

The privately-owned company, which launched four Tequila expressions in the US four years ago, is set to hit markets across Latin America and the Caribbean through the deal. Monarq will also handle the portfolio, which has since grown to five iterations, in the Travel Retail channel both in the region as well as in the US.

Alongside Código 1530 Blanco, Reposado, Anejo and Origen will be Rosa Tequila, a coloured expression produced by finishing the Blanco in ex-Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from California’s Napa Valley for four weeks.

Monarq’s representation in the new markets takes effect from this month.

“We have been carefully following and analysing the latest trends in the Tequila category, especially in its leading export market, the US,” said Monarq CEO Robert de Monchy. “During the last decade, consumers have been constantly trading up to higher-quality products.

We are truly excited to partner with Código 1530 Tequila, introducing this wonderful brand in the domestic and duty-free markets of Latin America and the Caribbean plus US duty-free.”
