The Boston Beer Co is seeking to tap into demand for flavoured hard cider with the launch of a new tropical fruit variant from its Angry Orchard brand in the US.

Angry Orchard Tropical Fruit Hard Cider is available nationwide from this month in a six-pack format from selected off-premise operators. The launch is Boston Beer’s third flavoured hard cider from Angry Orchard, following the debut of Peach Mango and Strawberry a year ago.

“Angry Orchard has always been a flavourful, fruit-forward ready-to-drink alcohol option,” said head of marketing Kelli McCusker. “With drinkers increasingly exploring variety and flavour experiences, we’re excited to launch … Tropical Hard Cider. This capitalises on the growth of hard fruit ciders.”

To mark the release, the company is running a Social Media competition offering consumers the chance to win a “tropical vacation”. Running until 7 April, the online push has a top prize of US$10,000 in cash.
