The US division of Anheuser-Busch InBev is investing US$50m in increasing the capacity at its St Louis brewery and constructing a “dedicated seltzer building,” due for completion in the Spring. A portion of the spend, announced this week, is going towards updating one of the canning lines at the facility as well as the construction of the new building. The site will be armed with apparatus that allows for the “streamlined” addition of flavours to hard seltzer, Anheuser-Busch said. The new building will be used to produce Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer and Bud Light Seltzer, as well as A-B's future alcoholic sparkling water ventures. “St Louis is our hometown and plays a critical role in enabling our innovations and producing the highest-quality products for our consumers to enjoy," said CEO Brendan Whitworth. "This isn’t just an investment in our facilities, it’s an investment in our hometown community.” The investment is part of a wider US$1bn operational programme in the US for Anheuser-Busch. Announced last year, the brewer will undertake plant upgrades, solar panel and water treatment installations in the coming years, backed by a series of high-profile media campaigns. The division consists of around 120 facilities in the US. Read More: “You focus on what you can control”- Anheuser-Busch InBev chief supply officer Peter Kraemer
