Accolade Wines has introduced two more 0%-abv wines from its Hardy’s brand, whilst updating the branding and recipe for the existing 0% Chardonnay. The full Hardy’s Zero range will see the Chardonnay joined by a Shiraz and a sparkling offering available across both the on- and off-premise channels in the UK. All three SKUs have an SRP of GBP5.50 (US$7.16) per 75cl bottle. According to Accolade, the Hardy's Zero extensions have been produced using de-alcoholisation technology called Zero Tech X. The process requires fewer additives in the finished product versus traditional de-alcoholisation techniques, the company said. “Historically, non-alcoholic wine has suffered from negative taste and quality perceptions - Hardys Zero is set to change all that,” said Europe marketing director Tom Smith. “Thanks to Accolade Wines’ significant investment in this innovative technology, we can now offer a superior tasting experience.” The move comes at a time when non-alcoholic wine in the UK is in strong growth. The sub-segment is worth in the region of GBP39m (US$51m) per year, according to Neilsen data cited by Accolade, representing around 0.6% of the country's total wine category. Earlier this year, Accolade announced the first UK TV activation for Hardy's since 2018. The drive will be supported by in-store promotional activities across the country as well as with Social Media advertising.
