The UK’s consumer industry registered a 21.0% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.26% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.4% share in November 2022, recording a decrease of 0.99% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.82% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry in November 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 34.12% in November 2022, registering a 27.5% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 27.06% share, a decrease of 32.35% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 17.65%, registering an 87.5% rise from October 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 15.29%, down 43.48% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 2.17% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Body Shop International posted 15 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a drop of 46.43% over the previous month, followed by Mars with 10 jobs and a 150% growth. Focusrite with 9 IT jobs and Reckitt Benckiser Group with 7 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Unilever recorded a decline of 42.86% with 4 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.65%, down by 26.67% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 12.94% share, registered a decline of 15.38% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.41% share, down 33.33% over October 2022.
